DJ Pete "Jester" Savas:
DJ Pete "Jester" Savas is a native "New York City Boy" living in Salt Lake City, Utah, who started DJing in 1984. The nickname came as a result of his style, and more aptly, his personality: Between mixes, a glance at the booth is likely to find this DJ dancing with as much energy and enthusiasm as his crowds do. Pete was chosen from a field of over 100 DJs, by a panel of industry-professional judges and the listeners of Gay Internet Radio Live (G.I.R.L.) www.gayinternetradiolive.com as the GayDays DJ Contest winner, playing a pool party in Orlando, FL during the GayDays 2009 celebration! Pete is now featured on the station’s regular schedule, with a twice0weekly hour-long show.
In 2006, Pete was selected, out of a field of 24 DJs from around the country, to be the headliner for REAL BAD XVIII at San Francisco’s 1015, playing a nine-hour “soaring, triumphant” set to a packed house of 2,300 that party-goers are still talking about today!
Since then, Pete has become a regular in San Francisco, counting "Sanctuary," the "PLAY" T-dance, “Swallow,” and a residency at SF’s “Best Bar Party” two years running, “Bearracuda” as his own. Pete has also wowed crowds in Vancouver, B.C., Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Provincetown, San Diego, Sacramento, Seattle, as well as on the playa at Burning Man 2007. Additionally, Pete launched his Podcast, “Press Play,” (available through the Apple iTunes store) in 2007.
At home, Pete has played most of the gay clubs in Salt Lake City at one time or another, opening for guest DJs Don Bishop, Brett Henrichsen, Phil B, Neil Lewis, Joe Bermudez, Julian Marsh, Brian Pfiefer, and Frank Abraham. He's headlined Utah's, and Southern Utah's Gay Pride celebrations since 1999, and headlined for Salt Lake’s 2008 Winter Pride; earned the prestigious 2001 "Golden Spike Favorite DJ" award, was featured at Queer Lounge in Park City during 2008’s Sundance Film Festival.
Musically, Pete's something of a chameleon. Whether you're looking for dark-and-dirty, fun-and-funky, dreamy-and-euphoric, or just a good healthy dose of diva and house, this DJ delivers, adjusting his sound to the venue and the audience. But don't just take our word for it, listen for yourself! He'll definitely leave you begging for more.
For Pete, DJing is about more than just a packed dance floor; it’s about sharing the music he loves. That passion is evident every time he takes to the decks.
